Minority Group Demands Language Recognition
The Issue
A group several thousands strong hailing from a remote, isolated corner of Cephirou is staging a massive demonstration on the front steps of your capitol. They demand that their local dialect be recognized as an official language.
The Debate
1. Buy Broadside, your Minister of Culture, has nothing but disdain for the demonstrators. "The language of Cephirou is as important to our national identity as our history is. A truly erudite individual uses perfect grammar and refuses to speak as those ruffians do." Your Finance Minister is quick to chime in as well, "If business is required to print every road sign, instruction manual, and fast-food wrapper in two languages, it would increase everybody's overhead. That means higher prices for the person in the street."
[Accept]
2. "Smarker, but ee's gone blongie 'round the clonger! Trandy in the blang warked a newtie on the Cheebers, quaff me a duggle if it's brine. Sorky, hang our trandy high!" says Aaron Utopia, speaking for the demonstrators, in an apparently rousing response that draws a cascade of cheers. After a few uncomfortable minutes with a professional translator, you find the speaker said, "I respectfully disagree with the Minister. Multilingualism has brought stability to richly-cultured nations such as Brancaland; indeed, I challenge you to provide a single counterexample. I encourage this government to adopt a policy of multilingualism throughout Cephirou!"
[Accept]
3. Billy-Bob Shiomi, a radical opposition member who seems to tag along to every demonstration she can find, has her own proposal. "The language barrier is keeping us all apart. What Cephirou needs is a new identity defined by a new language that we can all agree on. That's unity without favoritism."
[Accept]
I'm not going number 3, but not sure if I should go number 1 or 2, or dismiss.

I've got 2 uber disgusting issues today:
ISSUE 1: A coalition of tribalists, health experts, and civil rights proponents have recently suggested legalizing cannibalism for consumers of willing would-be meals.
1. "I see absolutely no problem with people digging into each other at dinnertime, so long as everyone is willing," Charles Broadside, the editor of the monthly magazine 'To Serve Man', quips, "Not only does it solve hunger problems and create jobs, but it also adds variety to Forceana's sometimes dull palette."
2. Civil rights leader Sue-Ann Longfellow came out publicly for moderate pro-cannibalism legislation, commenting, "While it may strike some as a crude, even evil practice, our ancestors have practiced cannibalism for years. If we create a government organization to strictly regulate and grade all human meat prior to its arrival on the market, we can ensure that respect for diversity is maintained while health concerns are also allayed. And instead of killing average people, why not make being turned into snack foods a post-mortem option? Like donating your body to science!"
3. "You're all absolutely out of your minds!" exclaims Charles Hamilton, head of Forceana's largest health-food manufacturer. "It's immoral, it's unhealthy, and it's disgusting. Not only are these so-called 'dietary rights' activists leading us down a dark path of sin, but right into a marketplace with yet another product that's almost as bad as beef!"
Of course I chose 3, this is ludicrous. Cannibalists should be shot.
ISSUE 2: In a bid to provide a new revenue stream for Forceana's Beef-Based Agriculture industry, it has been suggested that cats could be added to the menu.
1. "The fact is, the cat population is out of control," says Beef-Based Agriculture spokesperson Naki Chicago. "We have to do something about them anyway, so why not market them as tasty snacks? We could have cat kebabs, cat pies, cat-on-a-sticks--the possibilities are endless! Let's not pass up this golden opportunity to provide a feast, if you will, for our economy."
2. "I agree that something needs to be done about cat over-population," says random passer-by Falala Dodinas, "but eating them? That's kind of gross. Let's just shoot the ones we have to and shovel their bodies into ditches like normal."
3. "I am shocked and appalled!" declared SPCA President Billy-Bob Hamilton. "If anyone needs to be culled, it's us humans. The cats were here first, remember? We need to take this as a sign to get our industry--agriculture in particular--to back off. The cat is part of what makes Forceana a great nation!"
Against, first two were ridiculous... Eating cats, I can't even picture such a brutally disgusting idea. 3.

For Issue 2 I went with Option 1 to save my economy. It doesn't endanger them, just makes them the country's favorite meal ^^; (and it gives your economy a nice increase)

Why am I a corrupt dictator? I haven't done anything wrong; in fact, I'll be hardly corrupt as there are no taxes to steal at all! I think the UN country rankings are unfair and should be revised. Forceana could be rated as an Authoritarian Monarchy, an Absolutist Monarchy, an Enlightened Absolutist Monarchy, or a Right-Wing Utopia. It would be corrupt if I did something corrupt, which hasn't been the case.
[Feels offended. Will not be joining the UN. [img]tongue.gif[/img] ]

The problem with this is that if you get an issue like?
Are white cars good?
- Yes
- No
and you pick Yes, the next day your country profile will be like "All cars in the country are white, and those which aren't, will be repainted soon."; but if you pick "No", it'll be "White cars are banned; the imperial troops shoot any white car regardless if it has people inside or not".

erm...
Scientists have announced they are close to a breakthrough in their quest to revive the feather-bellied cheesecake, a species related to Chillage's national animal that has been extinct for more than a century.
The Debate
"I, for one, applaud their work," says scientist Billy-Bob Wong. "And not just because I'm the project leader. This is an example of how Chillage's brains can mix it with the world's best. Can you imagine how wonderful it will be to have feather-bellied cheesecakes frolicking in the meadows again? I say full steam ahead, and more government funding!"
[Accept]
"This is a sacriledge!", says religious leader Clint Thiesen. "These animals are extinct because God wants them dead. Cloning them would merely incur his wrath! If we proceed down this path, it'll be humans, not the feather-bellied cheesecake, who will be extinct."
[Accept]
"Now, come on," says Billy-Bob Jones, well-known philosopher. "You don't need to be religious to be unnerved by the top of this particular slippery slope. Today it's cheesecakes, tomorrow it's dinosaurs, and we all know how that turns out. This research shouldn't be banned, but there must be strict government controls over its use."
While it's great to have more cheesecakes, i doubt feather cheesecakes are that tasty. I'm going for Number 3 though, cuz they should make good pets.

I got that issue today; chose 1. I'll always support science as long as it's not harmful. And this will restore part of the damage we humans have caused, so I welcome it.
